Niels Bohr 2012 Google Doodle

Today the 7th of October 2012 when you visit the Google homepage from any country you will see the Google Doodle celebrating the live and legacy of Niels Bohr. Today 7 October 2012 would have been the 127th Birthday of Niels Bohr. I remember learning about Niels Bohr in High school and the foundations he laid down and took part in explaining and understanding atomic structures and the fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics.

Interesting when I opened Google this morning I notices that people searching for “Niels Bohr” people also searched for Albert Einstein, Erwin Schrodinger, Werner Heisenber, James Chadwick and Ernest Rutherford all pioneers and leaders to understanding modern science.

About Niels Henrik David Bohr

He was born on October 7, 1885 in Copenhagen in Denmark, and died in November 18, 1962 in Denmark Copenhagen. He were educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, University of Copenhagen and the University of Cambridge.

Niels Bohr Awards and Achievements

Niels Bohr won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922, a Copley Medal and also the Franklin Medal. He was part of the British team of physicists working on the Manhattan Project

Bohrium (a chemical element, atomic number 107) is named in honour of Bohr.

Hafnium, another chemical element, whose properties were predicted by Bohr, was named by him after Hafnia, Copenhagen’s Latin name.

Asteroid 3948 Bohr is named after him.

The Centennial of Bohr’s birth was commemorated in Denmark on 3 October 1985 with a postage stamp depicting Bohr with his wife Margrethe.

In 1997 the Danish National Bank started circulating the 500-krone banknote with the portrait of Bohr smoking a pipe.

Consider that two bodies masses m1 and m2 are attached end of the string passing over frictionless pulley both a hanging vertically

Consider body A

There are two forces on acting on body A

1. ·         Tension of string
2. ·         Weight of body

Since the body A move downward

W1 > T

W1 – T = Net force

W1 – T  =  F1

M1g – T = m1a --------- (1)

Consider body B

There are two forces acting on body B

• ·         Tension of string “T”
• ·         Weight of body “W2”

Since the body B move upward

T > W2

T – W2 = Net force

T – W2 = F2

For Acceleration

Add 1 and 2

M1g – T = m1 a --------- (1)

T – m2 g = m2 a --------- (2)

Result:

M1 g - m2 g = m1 a + m2 a

G ( m1 – m2 ) = a ( m1 + m2 )

FIRST WATER FUEL CAR INVENTED IN PAKISTAN :

BSEK announces result of SSC II examination

KARACHI: Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has declared the result of SSC II annual examination 2012, both regular and private, here on Friday.

As per statistics of the result, 27,974 candidates were registered, 27,398 appeared in the examination, out of which 19,007 were declared as pass. 

Faryal Hameed d/o Abdul Hameed Chhotani of CP & Berar High Schools for Girls stood first with 759 marks out of 850, Muhammad Saad Ayub s/o Muhammad Babar Iqbal of Iqra Huffaz Boys Secondary School won second position with 751 marks and Kanza Kaiser d/o Kaiser Saleem of Mama Parsi Secondary School also got second position with same marks, while Sadia Khan d/o Gohar Ali of Iqra Huffaz Girls Secondary School stood third with 750 marks. 

It is pertinent to mention here that this year, the board had made a record of its history with preparing and declaring result only with in 42 days.
